Where to watch whales around the world

In the world of whale watching, being ?mugged? is considered cute, while seagulls are murderous villains that need to be shot.

Whale watching is also a rapidly growing and favorably regarded tourism industry.

According to a 2010 report by scientists at the Aquatic Environment Research Laboratory in Vancouver, the whale watching industry generated an estimated US$2.1 billion around the world.

The same report also highlighted the socio-economic and ecological benefits that the industry can bring to a country, and regretted the lack of proper infrastructure that prevented countries from taking advantage of the industry.
