The California Traffic Law on Pedestrians

Pedestrian accidents consistently account for 12-13 percent of all motor vehicle deaths in the United States that are recorded every year. In fact, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety stated that some 4,280 pedestrians were killed in 2010 out of 32,885 fatalities in motor vehicle accidents. Of the 4,280 killed in pedestrian accidents, about 18 percent (785) were victims of hit-and-run.
