A lady from Fishponds is not letting her age get in her way. Doreen Fletcher, 85, from Fishponds has set up a local community group to help raise money for a local teenager to start her own business.
Paige O'Brien, 19, from Downend supports her local PCSO's, focusing on the community. As well working for Avon and Somerset Constabulary, Paige is studying for a Business NVQ, supports Clic Sargent as well as many other charities and is also involved in a Bristol Mentoring Scheme. She has also been nominated for the London Youth Business Awards.
Doreen says: "Paige has helped me lots, especially in day to day life. When I was first introduced to Paige with our local PCSOs, to tell the truth, I thought she was going to be a 'typical teenager' and I would have more teenagers loitering on the streets by my house! As soon as I sat down and spoke with Paige in my living room, I knew she was different, she is a special one. Paige has time for everyone, no matter how busy or stressed she is, she will always make time for people in need. Paige has not only helped me, she has taught me many things."
Betty, a resident in Fishponds said: "Paige is a polite, willing young lady. She always makes a negative problem, positive. Paige does a great job at stopping anti-social behaviour in her local area's as well as all her other jobs, I have certainly noticed a difference. When I asked Paige what she wanted in life, I could tell she is a self motivated person. After hearing her dreams of having her own business, the local people of Fishponds decided to raise some money to help her succeed in her dreams. If anyone deserves it, it's Paige."
After speaking to members of the Fishponds and Downend Community, Paige has been nothing, but praised for all that she does.
