The next time you savor the sweet flavor of vanilla ice cream or the fresh orange scent of a hand soap, you might want to thank a microbe. Fragrance companies are looking to bacteria and yeast to produce fragrances once found in nature, according to a story in the current issue of Chemical & Engineering News.
